Meta has announced that content creators in Nigeria and Ghana can now start earning money from their Facebook content, beginning Monday, July 1, 2024. The company introduced two monetisation options: In-Stream Ads and Facebook Ads on Reels.
In a statement released Monday, Meta explained that eligible creators will now be able to make money by posting original videos and building communities on Facebook, with support available in over 30 languages globally.
To qualify, creators must comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies and be at least 18 years old. For In-Stream Ads specifically, creators also need at least 5,000 followers.
Meta outlined that In-Stream Ads can appear before, during, or after videos, whether pre-recorded or replays of live streams. These ads include pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll, and static image ads displayed under the video content.
Meanwhile, Ads on Facebook Reels are integrated directly into creators’ original Reels, allowing them to earn based on the performance and engagement of their content.
Speaking on the development, Meta’s Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, Moon Baz, said the initiative is designed to support African creators in sharing their stories and connecting with audiences while generating income. Baz emphasized that this rollout would help position Meta’s platforms as a central hub for creators worldwide.
