Morocco Launches “AI Made in Morocco” Initiative to Drive Industry 4.0 and Health Innovation

The Morocco government has unveiled a new “AI Made in Morocco” initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s digital innovation ecosystem and accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence across key sectors, including advanced manufacturing and healthcare technology.

The initiative forms part of the country’s broader digital transformation agenda, officials said during a scientific seminar hosted by the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez in Fez.

Speaking at the event, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, described artificial intelligence as one of the most strategic drivers of global economic transformation.

AI to reshape global economy

The seminar, themed “Artificial Intelligence and Innovation in the Digital Transformation of Enterprises and Their Applications in Industry X.0 and Health Industries,” brought together academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to examine how emerging technologies are transforming industrial ecosystems.

Seghrouchni noted that the global AI market is projected to expand dramatically—from about $189 billion in 2023 to roughly $4.8 trillion by 2033—highlighting the growing importance of the technology in boosting productivity and strengthening corporate competitiveness.

Digital Morocco 2030 strategy

According to the minister, Morocco’s digital transformation efforts align with the strategic vision of Mohammed VI, which prioritises technological innovation and digital development as key drivers of economic modernization.

The government is implementing the Digital Morocco 2030 Strategy, which places artificial intelligence at the centre of national development plans.

Under the strategy, the “AI Made in Morocco” programme will support the creation of locally developed AI solutions, encourage research and development, and build a national innovation ecosystem capable of competing globally.

New Industry X.0 research institute

The event also featured the signing of an agreement establishing the Al-Jazari Institute of Industry X.0, a new institution dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and collaboration between universities and industry.

The agreement was signed by the ministries of Industry and Commerce, Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and Economy and Finance, alongside several academic institutions including Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Moulay Ismail University, and Al Akhawayn University.

Building a regional AI hub

Authorities say the initiative represents a major step toward building an integrated national innovation ecosystem, strengthening technological sovereignty, and positioning Morocco as a regional hub for artificial intelligence and digital industry.
