Nigerian-owned SoftTalk Messenger has unveiled a monetisation programme empowering African creators to earn from engagement and community building while maintaining user privacy and security.

SoftTalk Messenger, a Nigerian-owned messaging app, has introduced a monetisation programme aimed at empowering African content creators to earn directly from their digital communities.

Developed by Simple Azenabor, a Japan-based Nigerian software engineer, the app combines secure communication, community engagement, and income opportunities, positioning itself as Africa’s homegrown alternative to global messaging giants.

Empowering Creators Across Africa

Announcing the programme in Benin City, Azenabor said SoftTalk Messenger is building a sustainable ecosystem where creators can turn engagement into income through the SoftTalk Creator Partner Program.

“SoftTalk Messenger is rapidly becoming the go-to platform for creators seeking income, independence, and impact,” said Azenabor.

The SoftTalk Creator Partner Program rewards creators and group administrators for maintaining active and engaging communities. Earnings are calculated monthly based on engagement scores, enabling creators to monetise conversations and community participation.

“You create. You engage. You deserve to earn,” Azenabor emphasized. “SoftTalk Creator Partner is built to honour the value creators bring to digital communities.”

Privacy-First Communication

Unlike many global messaging apps, SoftTalk Messenger allows users to chat and call without revealing their phone numbers. Instead, users connect through unique usernames, which enhances privacy and protection from spam or identity theft.

Azenabor explained that the app was designed with African users in mind, addressing key challenges in communication, commerce, and creator monetisation.

“From secure messaging to marketplace tools, the app empowers users to connect, trade, and grow without borders,” he said.

A Super App for Africa

Beyond messaging, SoftTalk Messenger offers an integrated suite of features tailored to African users’ needs, including:

  • Text, voice, and video calls
  • Marketplace for buying and selling products and services
  • Utility bill payments, mobile data, and airtime purchases
  • Community building and monetisation tools

This all-in-one approach positions SoftTalk Messenger as more than a chat app, it’s a social, commercial, and creative platform for Africans to thrive digitally.

No Middlemen, 100% Creator Earnings

One of the standout features of the SoftTalk Creator Partner Program is its direct payment system. Unlike many global platforms that require African creators to rely on foreign third-party agencies, SoftTalk ensures creators earn and keep 100% of their income.

“SoftTalk eliminates the barrier where African creators are forced to rely on foreign intermediaries,” Azenabor noted.

This makes the app a game-changer for African digital entrepreneurs, reducing friction and empowering creators to monetise their audiences directly.

Who Can Join the Creator Program?

SoftTalk defines creators broadly, anyone managing or facilitating an online community can participate. Eligible groups include:

  • Virtual classrooms and online educators
  • Alumni groups and mentorship communities
  • Religious and faith-based organisations
  • NGOs, volunteer teams, and social clubs
  • Professional and interest-based communities

To qualify for the programme, groups must have a minimum of 100 participants.

Available on Android and iOS

SoftTalk Messenger is free to download on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users can sign up without providing a phone number or other sensitive details, ensuring privacy while accessing all communication and monetisation features.
