Ethiopia, Liberia Seal Deals on Education, AI to Boost Strategic Partnership
Ethiopia and Liberia have strengthened diplomatic and development ties with the signing of new agreements covering education, artificial intelligence, and technology cooperation.
The deals were formalised following high-level talks between Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, who jointly presided over the exchange of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
According to officials, the agreements are designed to provide both a strategic framework and a practical roadmap for collaboration in critical sectors, including education, science, and emerging technologies such as AI.
The partnership aims to deepen bilateral cooperation by aligning both countries’ development priorities, with a strong focus on innovation, skills development, and knowledge sharing. Authorities say the initiative will support efforts to build human capital while accelerating technology-driven growth.
Beyond strengthening ties between the two nations, the agreements are also seen as a step toward broader regional integration. Both countries are positioning the partnership as a model for how African nations can work together to drive sustainable development and technological advancement.
The move reflects a growing trend across the continent, where governments are increasingly investing in education and digital innovation as part of long-term economic transformation strategies.
