The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed viral claims that the Nigerian Police recruitment portal is open, warning citizens not to fall for fraudulent websites and to rely only on official updates.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has debunked reports circulating across social media claiming that the recruitment portal for the 2025 Nigeria Police Force intake has been opened. The commission described the trending posts as false, misleading, and part of a scheme designed by fraudsters to exploit unsuspecting Nigerians.

In an official statement released on Monday, the PSC warned citizens against interacting with fake recruitment links, stressing that scammers are attempting to harvest personal data from job seekers.

“The general public is hereby informed that these publications are fake and entirely misleading. They are the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit innocent citizens,” the statement noted.

PSC: Official Recruitment Has Not Started

The commission reiterated that no recruitment portal is currently open and that the official 2025 police recruitment exercise has not yet commenced. It assured the public that all legitimate announcements will be issued solely through authorised channels, including:

  • Updates on the verified website www.psc.gov.ng
  • Announcements from accredited government bodies
  • Notices in established national newspapers
  • Official press releases

Any portal not listed on the PSC website, the commission warned, is fraudulent and should be reported immediately.

Preparations for 2025 Recruitment Ongoing

Despite the portal not yet being active, the PSC confirmed that preparations for the upcoming recruitment are currently in progress. On November 27, the commission disclosed it had begun implementing the Presidential directive to recruit 30,000 new officers, supported by a Joint Ad-hoc Committee established to drive the process.

The commission expressed concern that fraudsters are exploiting public anticipation and Nigeria’s high unemployment rate to deceive applicants.

“Any purported recruitment portal not published on the Commission’s official website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police accordingly.”

Other Security Agencies Progress to Screening Stage

While the police recruitment is pending, other federal security agencies have advanced in their 2025 exercises.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services have entered the fourth phase, which covers Physical Screening and Document Verification.

The preceding online Computer-Based Test (CBT) recorded:

  • 872,391 total participants
  • 650,395 candidates scoring between 41–100
  • 142,697 candidates scoring above 80 (representing 25.4%)

Successful candidates are currently receiving their screening schedules.
