AXIAN Telecom, Huawei Seal Partnership to Upgrade Networks and Drive Africa’s Digital Economy

AXIAN Telecom has entered into a strategic partnership with global technology giant Huawei to modernise its network infrastructure and accelerate digital transformation across Africa, as operators race to meet growing demand for high-quality, secure and affordable digital services.

The two companies signed a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Shanghai, aimed at deepening collaboration to support inclusive and sustainable digital economies across the continent.

Under the agreement, AXIAN Telecom and Huawei will work together across three core areas: digital connectivity, digital finance and digital operations. The collaboration will focus on upgrading network infrastructure, expanding digital services and deploying next-generation technologies to improve service resilience, affordability and performance across AXIAN Telecom’s markets.

Central to the partnership is the rollout of future-ready, scalable technologies, including 5G, cloud-based network architectures, artificial intelligence-driven operations and advanced digital platforms. These innovations are expected to strengthen AXIAN Telecom’s ability to deliver reliable, high-performance services to individuals, businesses and public institutions.

Hassan Jaber, Chief Executive Officer of AXIAN Telecom, said the partnership aligns with the company’s long-term vision for Africa’s digital development.

“This partnership reflects AXIAN Telecom’s core values of long-term commitment, local empowerment and responsible growth. By working closely with Huawei, we are strengthening our capacity to deliver high-quality digital services while building the digital capabilities Africa needs to compete and thrive in the global economy,” Jaber said.

Huawei also described the agreement as a step toward expanding access to advanced technologies across African markets. Gary Lu, President of Huawei’s Southern Africa Region Carrier Business, said the collaboration would help drive sustainable development and better digital experiences.

“Together with AXIAN Telecom, we will bring advanced technologies and innovation to local markets, supporting improved connectivity, sustainable growth and enhanced digital experiences for people and businesses across Africa,” Lu said.

The partnership further cements AXIAN Telecom’s role as a long-term digital partner to governments, enterprises and communities, as the company continues to invest in future-ready infrastructure and digital ecosystems designed to boost economic development and digital inclusion across the continent.
