Lagos-based on-demand delivery platform, Chowdeck, has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 1 million monthly orders for meals and everyday essentials across Nigeria in October 2025.
The announcement was made by Femi Aluko, CEO and co-founder of Chowdeck, in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He revealed that the company’s daily order volume has grown from an average of 30,000 orders per day to over 40,000, with the numbers continuing to rise.
“I am super pumped to share that last month, @chowdeck hit over 1 million orders in Nigeria in a single month,” Aluko wrote.
“Our daily order volumes in Nigeria have grown from an average of ~30K daily orders a few weeks ago to over 40K daily orders presently and still increasing day on day,” he added.
A Record for African On-Demand Delivery
With this achievement, Chowdeck becomes the first African on-demand delivery platform to reach 1 million monthly orders. The platform currently serves around 1.5 million users and works with over 20,000 delivery riders across Nigeria and Ghana.
This milestone follows Chowdeck’s successful $9 million Series A funding round in August 2025, which was aimed at accelerating its quick-commerce expansion and improving operational efficiency across West Africa.
Rapid Growth Since Launch
Founded in October 2021, Chowdeck has grown rapidly, transforming the food delivery landscape in Nigeria. The company recorded over ₦30 billion in total deliveries for 2024, representing a sixfold increase compared to 2023.
In April 2024, Chowdeck raised $2.5 million in seed funding to expand its operations in Nigeria. The round attracted notable investors such as Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, FounderX Ventures, Hoaq Fund, Levare Ventures, True Culture Funds, and Haleakala Ventures.
Chowdeck further expanded its footprint by launching operations in Ghana in May 2025, strengthening its presence in the West African quick-commerce space.
Moving Beyond Delivery
In June 2025, Chowdeck diversified its business model with the acquisition of Mira, a point-of-sale (POS) software platform for food and hospitality businesses. The move positions Chowdeck not only as a delivery service but also as a logistics and vertical SaaS provider for restaurants, helping them optimize operations through technology.
Competing in a Dynamic Market
Chowdeck’s success highlights the rise of homegrown African tech solutions in a space once dominated by international players like Glovo, Bolt Food, and Yango, many of which have scaled back operations. The company now competes with other regional “super app” contenders such as Gozem, Yassir, and MNT-Halan.
In Lagos, Chowdeck’s rider network has become a key part of the city’s logistics ecosystem. According to a Nairametrics survey (March 2025), riders earn up to ₦25,000 daily on average, completing multiple orders and ensuring fast delivery times across Nigeria’s busiest city.
Empowering the Future of African Quick-Commerce
Chowdeck’s 1 million monthly orders mark a significant milestone for Africa’s quick-commerce and food delivery industry, demonstrating the potential of locally built platforms to scale efficiently, attract funding, and compete with global players.
