Ghana’s Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations partners with Code Raccoon Ltd to train 350,000 youth annually in coding, AI, and cybersecurity with dual accreditation for global opportunities.

The Government of Ghana has unveiled an ambitious plan to train 350,000 young people annually in coding and digital skills, reinforcing its commitment to building a future-ready workforce. The initiative, announced on September 4, 2025, is spearheaded by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations in partnership with technology firm Code Raccoon Ltd Company.

Training Focus: Coding, AI, and Cybersecurity

The large-scale programme will provide participants with practical training in coding, software development, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity. Core programming languages such as Python and JavaScript will be included, equipping participants with in-demand technical skills for both local and global markets.

The three-month training curriculum is modeled after a workforce development program currently active in Berlin, ensuring international relevance.

Accreditation and Global Certification

To enhance the credibility of the programme, the training will be accredited by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) in Ghana. Participants will also receive international certification from leading European technology firms. This dual accreditation is expected to:

  • Boost the global employability of graduates.
  • Enable access to remote work opportunities.
  • Strengthen Ghana’s role in the global digital economy.

Investment in Content and Delivery

As part of the initiative, Code Raccoon Ltd has committed a €2 million investment into content development and delivery. This funding will support modern training materials, hands-on workshops, and industry-aligned teaching methodologies.

Government’s Digital Transformation Vision

The Ministry emphasized that digital skills are central to Ghana’s future economic growth. By aligning Ghana’s youth with globally competitive digital competencies, the government aims to:

  • Increase participation in the digital economy.
  • Reduce youth unemployment.
  • Strengthen the country’s technology ecosystem.

Final Thoughts

With this initiative, Ghana positions itself as a leader in digital skills development in Africa, ensuring its youth are equipped for opportunities in coding, AI, and cybersecurity. The programme’s global accreditation, cutting-edge curriculum, and strong industry backing make it a transformative step in preparing the next generation of Ghana’s digital workforce.
