Final Thoughts: Grammarly Is No Longer Just English-First With this update, Grammarly has evolved from being just an English writing assistant to a multilingual productivity platform. Whether you’re writing in Spanish, German, or English—or translating across languages—Grammarly now helps you communicate more effectively across borders. For professionals, students, and businesses, the combination of multilingual editing + instant translation makes Grammarly a much more powerful tool in 2025.

Grammarly Goes Multilingual in 2025

Grammarly, widely known as an English writing assistant, has officially expanded its scope by adding support for five new languages:

  • Spanish
  • French
  • Portuguese
  • German
  • Italian

This major update means Grammarly users can now get grammar checks, spelling corrections, and advanced writing suggestions in multiple languages, making the tool more versatile for a global audience.

What the Multilingual Update Includes

The new release goes beyond simple spelling fixes. Grammarly now provides:

  • Grammar and spelling corrections in five additional languages.
  • Paragraph-level suggestions for tone, clarity, and style.
  • Readability improvements tailored to each supported language.

These updates make multilingual writing smoother, whether for professional communication, academic work, or creative projects.

Grammarly Translation Tool: 19 Languages Supported

Another standout feature is Grammarly’s new translation tool, which supports 19 languages, including:

  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Turkish
  • Ukrainian

Key details about the translation tool: Translates up to 4,000 characters at once.

Offers multiple translation options for short phrases (under 10 words).

Works across Windows, Mac, Chrome, and even the Figma plugin.

Available only when generative AI features are enabled.

Business, Enterprise, and Education users need admin approval to access it.

This positions Grammarly as more than just a grammar checker, it’s now also a productivity tool for global communication.

Why Grammarly Is Expanding to New Languages

Explaining the company’s new focus, Ailian Gan, Director of Product Management at Grammarly, said:

“Our customers have been asking for multilingual support, and we’re meeting them where they are, not just in the 500,000 apps and websites where Grammarly already works, but also in the languages that they think, learn, and communicate in daily.”

Grammarly piloted the multilingual tools with one million test users before the official launch, reporting strong adoption and positive feedback.

Grammarly’s Growing Productivity Ecosystem

Grammarly announced in May that it has 40 million daily active users, and this expansion shows its ambition to stay competitive in the productivity and AI writing space.

This release also builds on recent upgrades:

  • Redesigned document tools
  • New AI-powered writing features
  • Commitment to extending multilingual support to future AI tools

Final Thoughts: Grammarly Is No Longer Just English-First

With this update, Grammarly has evolved from being just an English writing assistant to a multilingual productivity platform. Whether you’re writing in Spanish, German, or English, or translating across languages, Grammarly now helps you communicate more effectively across borders.

For professionals, students, and businesses, the combination of multilingual editing + instant translation makes Grammarly a much more powerful tool in 2025.
