HAVAÍC Secures Over $30m for African Innovation Fund 3 in Latest Funding Milestone
HAVAÍC has reached a significant milestone with the third close of its African Innovation Fund 3, securing more than $30 million in investor commitments as it works toward a $50 million target.
The latest funding round was boosted by an investment from E Squared Investments, an impact-focused firm established by Allan Gray in 2007. The firm now joins a growing list of backers, including Fireball Capital, Universum Wealth, SA SME Fund, and Sanlam Multi-Manager.
Scaling Africa’s Tech Ecosystem
Headquartered in Cape Town, HAVAÍC has built a reputation since its founding in 2015 for backing post-revenue, high-growth technology startups across Africa. Its African Innovation Fund 3, launched in March 2023, has already deployed $10 million into eight companies spanning key sectors such as fintech and digital services.
Among the startups funded are fintech firms SAPay and Entersekt, alongside follow-on investments in Sportable and Talk360. The fund aims to invest in up to 15 companies and is on track to reach its final close by August 2026.
Track Record of Successful Exits
HAVAÍC’s growing influence in Africa’s startup ecosystem is also reflected in recent successful exits. These include RapidDeploy, which was acquired by Motorola Solutions, and hearX Group.
With fresh capital and a clear investment strategy, HAVAÍC is positioning itself as a key player in driving innovation and scaling high-impact startups across the continent, at a time when investor interest in African technology continues to gain momentum.
