Tired of spam calls and scam texts? Learn how to block spam calls and messages on Android and iPhone using built-in features, third-party apps, and mobile network tools.

Are you constantly getting calls from unknown numbers or receiving spam texts promising fake loans and prizes? You’re not alone. Spam calls and text scams are on the rise, but the good news is that you can easily block them. Whether you’re using an Android or iPhone, here are proven ways to stop spam calls and texts for good.

1. Use Your Phone’s Built-in Blocking Feature

On Android:

  • Open your Call Log
  • Tap the unwanted number
  • Select “Block/report spam”

On iPhone:

  • Open the Phone app
  • Tap the “i” icon next to the number
  • Choose “Block this Caller”

Once you block a number, it won’t be able to contact you through calls or SMS again. This is the fastest way to stop repeat offenders.

2. Enable Spam Protection

For Android Users:
Google offers built-in spam protection.

  • Open the Phone app
  • Go to Settings → Caller ID & Spam
  • Turn on both options

This automatically filters suspected spam calls and alerts you before answering.

For iPhone Users:

  • Go to Settings → Phone → Silence Unknown Callers
  • Turn on the feature

All unknown numbers will go directly to voicemail, keeping your phone silent from scammers.

3. Use Third-Party Apps

Apps like Truecaller, Hiya, or Calls Blacklist can automatically detect and block spam numbers using large global databases. These apps identify callers, show spam alerts, and block unwanted numbers before your phone even rings.

Tip: Always download these apps from official app stores (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) to ensure safety.

4. Report and Filter Spam Texts

If you receive scam or spam texts, never click on any links. Instead, report them right away.

On Android:

  • Tap and hold the message
  • Select Report Spam

On iPhone:

  • Tap Report Junk when the option appears under the message

Reporting helps your device and mobile carrier identify and block similar future messages.

5. Contact Your Mobile Provider

If spam calls and texts persist, reach out to your mobile service provider. Many carriers now offer additional spam filtering tools or options to block:

  • International numbers
  • Private/anonymous calls

For example, some networks automatically detect and filter scam calls before they reach your phone.

Final Thoughts

Blocking spam calls and texts is easier than ever. By using your phone’s built-in features, enabling spam protection, and using trusted third-party apps, you can keep your phone free from scammers and distractions. Stay cautious, and don’t engage with unknown or suspicious contacts.
