Kaspersky Unveils Free Cybersecurity Training for Students to Foster Safer Digital Futures
Kaspersky has launched “Cybersecurity: Entry Level,” a new free online training course designed to help first- and second-year university students, across both technical and non-technical disciplines, build a strong foundation in information security. The initiative aims to promote cybersecurity awareness early in academic life, empowering students to safely navigate today’s digital environment while preparing them for future professional challenges.
Empowering Students with Cyber Awareness
The new course supports universities in integrating cybersecurity education into their existing programs, making digital literacy a core part of higher education.
According to Kaspersky’s IT Security Economics report, 88% of organizations experienced at least one cyber incident in 2024, with human error identified as a key contributor to breaches. As industries increasingly rely on technology and digital systems, demand for cyber-aware professionals is rising, even in non-technical fields.
“Cybersecurity is no longer the sole responsibility of information security departments—it’s a shared responsibility across all teams. By introducing cybersecurity concepts early, universities can help build a workforce that is not only technically proficient but also security-conscious from day one,”
— Evgeniya Russkikh, Head of Academic Affairs, Kaspersky.
Inside Kaspersky’s “Cybersecurity: Entry Level” Course
Developed by experts from Kaspersky Expertise Centers, the course delivers a comprehensive introduction to modern cybersecurity. It comprises 26 video lessons (5–30 minutes each) and covers four key modules:
- The Basic Concepts of Cybersecurity
- Attacker Tools and Types of Cyberattacks
- Areas of Cybersecurity
- The Future of Cybersecurity
Each section includes self-assessment questions to reinforce learning. Participants who pass all tests and achieve at least 70% on the final exam receive an official Kaspersky Certificate of Completion.
The training explores cybersecurity from both a personal and professional standpoint, helping students understand the fundamentals of data protection, digital asset management, and risk prevention. For those interested in a cybersecurity career, an additional career guidance module outlines the skills and expertise needed to succeed in roles across the information security industry.
Accessible Learning Through the Kaspersky Academy Alliance
The Cybersecurity: Entry Level course is available to members of the Kaspersky Academy Alliance, a global partnership program that enables universities to integrate Kaspersky’s cybersecurity expertise and technologies into their curricula.
Universities can easily implement the course through their learning management systems (LMS) upon request, allowing students to access high-quality cybersecurity training as part of their formal education.
Building a Safer Digital Future
Kaspersky’s new initiative underscores its commitment to fostering cybersecurity awareness and building digital resilience among young people. By offering free, expert-led training, the company aims to create a generation of professionals who understand both the opportunities and responsibilities of living in an increasingly connected world.
