Telecom Namibia has rewarded the country’s senior women’s national football team, the Brave Gladiators, with 30 smartphones following their historic victory at the 2025 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The Brave Gladiators made history on March 1, 2026, clinching their first-ever COSAFA title with a dramatic 2–1 win over hosts South Africa in the final held at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The landmark achievement has sparked nationwide celebrations and earned the team official recognition, including a reception at the State House—highlighting a major milestone for women’s football in Namibia.

Presenting the devices, Telecom Namibia CEO, Stanley Shanapinda, praised the team’s performance, describing it as a symbol of resilience, teamwork, and the growing strength of women’s sports in the country.

“The Brave Gladiators have inspired the nation. This gesture is our way of supporting their journey and ensuring they remain connected as they prepare for future competitions,” he said.

The sponsorship package, valued at approximately N$100,000, includes smartphones for players and technical staff, each equipped with starter packs and data bundles to support communication and training coordination.

Also speaking, Namibia Football Association (NFA) Vice President, Jakobus Murs Markus, emphasised the importance of corporate partnerships in developing sports talent.

He commended the players’ determination and called on more organisations to invest in sports development, noting that such collaborations are key to unlocking national potential.

“This support goes beyond celebration—it strengthens our ability to prepare the next generation of champions,” he said.

The Brave Gladiators’ triumph has firmly etched their names in Namibia’s sporting history, with standout players Zenatha Coleman and Melissa Matheus also earning individual honours as Player of the Tournament and Golden Glove winner, respectively.

The gesture by Telecom Namibia underscores a broader push to empower athletes through connectivity, as the team sets its sights on future regional and continental success.
