Vodacom Group has been recognised as Africa’s Top Employer for 2025, achieving an exceptional 99.56% overall score in a comprehensive evaluation of its human resources systems, workplace culture, and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
The certification was awarded by the Top Employers Institute, which assesses organisations on how well their people strategies, employee experience, and HR frameworks align with global best practices.
Third Straight Year at the Top
This latest recognition marks the third consecutive year Vodacom Group has secured the Africa-wide Top Employer title, underscoring its consistent investment in employee engagement, talent development, and organisational excellence.
The assessment spans 20 key HR areas, including workforce strategy, recruitment, learning and development, leadership training, diversity and inclusion, and digital HR innovation.
CEO Highlights Strategic Importance
Reacting to the achievement, Vodacom Group Chief Executive Officer Shameel Joosub described the award as a validation of the company’s long-term vision.
“This recognition reflects our consistency in leading with purpose and confirms that our people-first approach to talent development and workplace culture is delivering real impact,” Joosub said, noting that the honour aligns closely with the Group’s Vision 2030 strategy.
Strong Results Across Operating Companies
In addition to the Group-level recognition, several Vodacom and Safaricom subsidiaries also earned Top Employer certifications in their respective countries.
- Vodacom Mozambique recorded the highest score in the group at 99.96%
- Vodacom South Africa achieved 99.88%
- Vodacom Tanzania scored 99.76%
- Safaricom Ethiopia and Safaricom Kenya both ranked number one in their respective markets
Commitment to People and Ethical Innovation
Vodacom Group Chief Human Resources Officer Matimba Mbungela said the recognition highlights the organisation’s sustained commitment to creating meaningful and inclusive employee experiences.
“Retaining Africa’s Top Employer position for the third year running reflects our belief that empowering our people is central to achieving our purpose of connecting for a better future,” Mbungela said.
Setting the Benchmark for Human-Centred Technology
The continued recognition also points to Vodacom Group’s success in blending workforce innovation, ethical governance, and technology, particularly through the responsible and human-focused use of artificial intelligence in organisational processes.
As competition for skilled talent intensifies across Africa’s telecoms and technology sectors, analysts say Vodacom Group’s consistent top ranking cements its status as a benchmark employer on the continent.
