Egypt Empowers Next-Gen FinTech Talent Through AI in FinTech Hackathon

Egypt is taking bold steps to shape the future of financial innovation by empowering young digital talents through artificial intelligence (AI). The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), has successfully organized the AI in FinTech Hackathon, an initiative aimed at equipping students with advanced skills in AI, business analytics, and financial technology (FinTech).

The hackathon was held as part of the Digital Egypt Builders Initiative (DEBI) and aligned with Egypt’s broader vision to nurture a new generation of tech-driven problem solvers who can transform the nation’s financial landscape.

Driving Innovation Through Collaboration

Under the umbrella of FinTech Egypt, a CBE initiative, and in partnership with SAIB Bank, the hackathon provided a hands-on platform for participants to work alongside industry experts and banking professionals. Students were challenged to create AI-driven solutions to real-world problems faced by Egypt’s banking and financial sectors.

Through teamwork, mentorship, and competition, participants explored how artificial intelligence can enhance financial inclusion, improve risk assessment, and streamline digital banking operations. The event also emphasized the importance of data ethics, security, and regulatory compliance, key pillars for sustainable innovation in financial technology.

Building Egypt’s Digital Economy

The AI in FinTech Hackathon reflects Egypt’s growing investment in digital capacity building and its commitment to integrating AI into national development strategies. By combining academic training with industry experience, initiatives like this one ensure that Egypt’s youth are well-prepared to lead the next wave of FinTech transformation across Africa and the Middle East.

The event also complements ongoing efforts under the Digital Egypt Builders Initiative, which focuses on developing world-class digital skills among university graduates in fields such as AI, data science, cybersecurity, and robotics.

Strengthening the FinTech Ecosystem

The hackathon’s success highlights Egypt’s thriving FinTech ecosystem, which has seen growing participation from banks, startups, and technology partners in recent years. The collaboration between MCIT, CBE, and SAIB Bank demonstrates the power of public-private partnerships in nurturing innovation and supporting Egypt’s vision to become a regional FinTech hub.

By empowering the next generation of developers, data scientists, and entrepreneurs, Egypt is not only investing in human capital but also laying the foundation for a digitally inclusive economy powered by technology and innovation.
