Morocco, Gabon Seal Digital Skills Pact to Boost AI and Innovation

Morocco and Gabon have signed a new bilateral agreement to deepen cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on skills development and capacity building.

The deal was finalised during the 4th edition of GITEX Africa Morocco held in Marrakech from April 7 to 9, marking a significant step in strengthening digital collaboration between the two nations.

The agreement, signed between Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Reform of the Administration and Gabon’s Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, aims to create a structured framework for cooperation across emerging digital and AI-driven sectors.

At the core of the partnership is the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and best practices, particularly in artificial intelligence—one of the fastest-growing areas shaping global economies.

Both countries also committed to rolling out targeted capacity-building programmes designed to enhance digital skills, nurture innovation talent, and support Gabon’s growing tech ecosystem.

Officials say the collaboration underscores a shared vision to harness digital technologies as a catalyst for economic transformation, while advancing sustainable and inclusive development.

The agreement is expected to strengthen institutional ties, accelerate digital adoption, and position both countries to better compete in Africa’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
