Uganda has taken a major step toward strengthening its digital economy with the launch of Postcom, a national e-commerce platform developed by Posta Uganda.
The platform was officially unveiled at the Uganda Media Centre by Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku, marking a new milestone in the country’s digital transformation agenda.
Postcom is designed to provide a secure and accessible online marketplace, enabling Ugandans—particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)—to buy, sell, and showcase locally made products more efficiently.
The initiative aligns with Uganda’s Digital Transformation Roadmap (FY2023/24–2027/28), a strategic framework aimed at building a more inclusive, competitive, and technology-driven economy.
By leveraging Posta Uganda’s extensive nationwide logistics network, the platform is also expected to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing e-commerce in emerging markets—last-mile delivery. This integration will enable smoother distribution of goods across the country while expanding access to both local and international markets.
The launch further supports the government’s Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy by promoting local production and consumption, while creating new income opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Officials say the platform could play a critical role in expanding digital inclusion, boosting small business growth, and enhancing the resilience of Uganda’s economy.
They also called on government agencies, private sector players, and entrepreneurs to embrace Postcom as a key tool for accelerating economic transformation and deepening participation in the global digital marketplace.
