The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has stepped up its collaboration with Intel Corporation following high-level talks aimed at accelerating Egypt’s artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, digital infrastructure rollout, and cybersecurity capacity.
The meeting brought together Egypt’s ICT Minister, Raafat Hendy, and Taha Khalifa, alongside senior officials from both sides. Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in key areas including AI adoption, advanced infrastructure deployment, cybersecurity frameworks, and large-scale talent development.
Officials said the partnership is aligned with Egypt’s broader digital transformation agenda, with a strong focus on building a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation across government services and the wider economy. Hendy emphasized that strengthening AI capabilities remains a national priority, noting that developing qualified professionals is critical to scaling AI-driven public services and achieving a more connected digital society.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to implementing the second phase of its National AI Strategy in collaboration with global technology partners. Key pillars of the strategy include cybersecurity resilience, local talent development, and fostering innovation ecosystems.
Intel, for its part, signaled readiness to deepen its involvement in Egypt’s digital growth through targeted training programmes. Khalifa said the company plans to support capacity building in AI, cybersecurity, and next-generation infrastructure technologies, helping to equip both public sector workers and emerging tech talent with in-demand digital skills.
The talks also reviewed ongoing initiatives led by the ministry’s Applied Innovation Center, including the development of generative AI solutions tailored to local needs. Among them is “Karnak,” an Egyptian large language model designed to reflect Arabic language and cultural context.
Both parties agreed to work toward a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will expand collaboration across training, research, and innovation programmes. The proposed agreement is expected to include specialised training for government officials, as well as support for initiatives such as Digilians, aimed at strengthening Egypt’s digital talent pipeline.
The partnership will also explore technical workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions on global AI and cybersecurity trends, leveraging Intel’s expertise to further position Egypt as a regional technology hub.
