Nigeria and KOICA Train 438 Civil Servants to Accelerate Digital Transformation

Nigeria’s Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, in partnership with KOICA, has trained 438 civil servants to strengthen digital governance, service delivery, and ICT adoption.

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has successfully trained 438 civil servants from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in a one-day programme held in Abuja.

The initiative, organized in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is part of Nigeria’s commitment to building a digitally empowered government capable of delivering secure, efficient, and innovative public services.

Training Focus: Building Digital Leadership and Citizen-Centric Governance

The programme was designed to:

  • Enhance leadership capacity in digital governance
  • Improve service delivery across government agencies
  • Promote the use of citizen-focused digital systems
  • Encourage collaboration and innovation in public administration

Participants explored strategies for deploying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in government operations, while also addressing digital skill gaps and embracing emerging technologies.

Emphasis on Emerging Technologies and Cybersecurity

Sessions highlighted the importance of:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) for smarter decision-making
  • Cloud computing for scalability and efficiency
  • Cybersecurity to safeguard sensitive public sector data
  • Continuous upskilling through flexible learning models like microlearning, online platforms, and hybrid training methods

KOICA representatives shared insights from South Korea’s success in building citizen-centric digital platforms, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between:
