A major Cloudflare outage has caused X (formerly Twitter) to go down for thousands of users globally. See what triggered the disruption, the scale of impact, and Cloudflare’s response.

Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is currently down for thousands of users globally following a significant network issue linked to Cloudflare, the infrastructure provider that supports many major websites and applications.

Users Unable to Load Posts Across App and Web

Reports of the outage began around 11 a.m., according to Downdetector, which logged nearly 12,000 complaints as users struggled to load posts or refresh their feeds. Both the website and mobile app displayed the error message: “Posts aren’t loading right now.”

As of now, X has not released any official communication addressing the issue.

Cloudflare Confirms Ongoing Global Network Problem

The root of the disruption appears to stem from a widespread Cloudflare outage. Cloudflare acknowledged the issue, noting that multiple customers were experiencing service failures.

“Cloudflare is aware of and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers. Further details will be provided as more information becomes available,” the company said.

Cloudflare also reported failures affecting its dashboard and API services, with engineers actively working to stabilise the network.

Even Downdetector, the outage-tracking website, briefly struggled due to Cloudflare-related issues, reflecting the scale of the disruption.

Another Major Tech Outage Following Recent AWS Failure

This outage follows closely on the heels of an AWS global failure in October, which temporarily took down platforms such as Grammarly, Snapchat, and Reddit. The back-to-back disruptions highlight how dependent the digital ecosystem has become on a handful of cloud and CDN giants—and how outages can ripple across multiple industries.
