MTN South Africa Donates Digital Devices to Support Learning at Qibing Secondary School

MTN South Africa has strengthened its commitment to digital education by donating learning devices to Qibing Secondary School in Wepener, as part of its ongoing Back2School campaign.

The initiative underscores the telecom giant’s drive to expand digital inclusion and improve access to quality education, particularly in underserved communities across South Africa.

Supporting a School of Excellence

Qibing Secondary School, a Quintile 1 institution located in one of the province’s most disadvantaged areas, recently made history by achieving a 100% matric pass rate in 2025—the first in its 46-year existence.

The donation of digital devices is aimed at sustaining this academic success by equipping students with essential tools for research, online learning, and digital skill development.

Expanding Digital Access Nationwide

The initiative forms part of MTN’s broader national education strategy, which continues to scale impact across the country. To date, the programme has delivered nearly 1,200 devices to schools, established over 400 multimedia centres, and provided zero-rated learning platforms that support hundreds of thousands of learners.

Bridging the Digital Divide

Through partnerships with district education officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders, MTN South Africa is leveraging technology to strengthen public education and create new opportunities for young learners.

The programme aligns with South Africa’s wider nation-building goals, positioning digital access as a key driver for educational advancement and socio-economic development.

As digital learning becomes increasingly vital, initiatives like this highlight the growing role of technology in bridging educational gaps and empowering the next generation.
